Value addition to public governance by the CAG - Compliance, control and risk management

The case studies in this section illustrate the wide-ranging and tangible impact of audit interventions by the CAG of India in strengthening compliance frameworks, enforcement mechanisms, and risk controls across diverse sectors and administrative levels. Spanning Union Government departments, regulatory bodies, Central Public Sector Enterprises, and State Governments including Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and NCT of Delhi, these cases cover domains such as taxation, infrastructure, welfare schemes, public enterprises, and minerals. Collectively, they demonstrate how evidence-based audit findings have led to correction of procedural deficiencies, strengthening of validation and monitoring systems, enforcement of statutory and regulatory provisions, and improvement in governance processes. These interventions have not only addressed instances of non-compliance and control weaknesses but have also contributed to building more robust, transparent, and accountable systems capable of managing risks and ensuring sustained adherence to rules and standards.
